questions and answers
What suit colour should I wear tonight? I have to go to a party at an upscale bar for work. Any ideas? Ladies what colour? I have a medium tan colour suit and a dark grey suit. Also what colour shirt/tie looks good and is appealing? I have almost every colour imaginable. What looks attractive on a man? It's also a little overcast today. Thanks!

Smittie replied: "It's all in the presentation! Pick the suit that allows YOU to shine and not it. Choose the color that highlights your hair and eyes; and match them with the tie. If you become stuck between two opinions then lay the sleeve of the jacket or the tie against the back of your hand. Which ever color looks best against your skin, that is the winner! Clothes and accessories only bring out the hidden beauty or handsomeness within you. So it does not matter which apparel costs the most, but which one looks best with your body physic. Good luck."

Paul replied: "I would wear dark grey for evening. Tan is more "suited" for daytime. Try a blue shirt that has a pattern like pane or check. Probably open collar, no tie since it's a bar party."

How do you turn a boring suit into a suit fit for a masquerade? I just bought this Venetian Mask, it's manila, with gold details, and some areas of red and black. And I want to tie it into my suit, without my suit looking too "normal." How can I accessorise or change my suit to reflect the colours of the mask, plus make it look more fitting to the style? My particular mask is in the Bauta style.

dreykmia replied: "um you said your mask was red and black? well i would say where a blalzer with a red tie and of course black pants and black shoes except where a black shirt under the blazer or maybe go disco and get a gold blazer! or a gold tie hope i helped:)"

What other suit colors can i wear in a law firm that requires business attire during the summer? I have a summer internship/clerkship in a law firm and the dress code is business attire. Aside from Gray, Black, Navy Blue colors in a suit, is it appropriate to wear other colors? and what will be suited in that kind of work place environment? Thank you very much!

Patricia Thrift replied: "Tan, or a linen suit, sounds a bit cliche I know but I have seen some very nice ones."

Getting rid of bathing suit stains? What can I do to get a stain out of a green bathing suit? It's stained from one of those popsicles that's shaped like a cartoon character with gumball eyes (it was Spiderman, he was delicious). Part of it fell off the stick and landed on my bathing suit, leaving a reddish-purple stain. I've tried two stain sticks and am about to try OxyClean, but I suppose the reason it's harder to get out is because it's bathing suit fabric. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

TayLee replied: "When it comes to dealing with Kool-Aid stains, the best thing to NOT do is press or rub on it. If the stain is in a piece of clothing, try soaking it in a stain remover or other remedy. (Some recommend vinegar, others recommend baking soda or a bowl with a couple tablets of denture cleaner.) Then launder as you normally would. You could give this a try...Good Luck! :)"

dimpelmum replied: "Soak in cold water add a small amount of dish washing up liquid, leave for a few mins, then rinse with cold water."

jimbo replied: "try soaking the bathing suit with either lemon or vinegar and water solution, a 50/50 solution, for a while, then wash as usual."

How much can a suit enhance how good a man looks? Didn't get much compliments on my looks before, then I put up a photo of me in a suit on my msn and I've gotten quite a lot of girls complimenting my looks. Is it the suit? I don't think I really look different besides the suit.

chunkymonkeylover25 replied: "believe me guys usually look pretty hot in a suit! i'm sure ur not bad looking but the suite probably helped!"

Jacqueline replied: "Yeah, I like suits on guys. As long as it's like not all wrinkly and weird fitting. It's gotta be nice and non-wrinkly, you know, looking professional with those straight shoulders. Those suits really do a good job."

ellora replied: "women love men in suits! its very prim n propah:)"

firestar.1981@ymail.com replied: "Wearing suites can indicate that you have money and money attracts women....unfortunately."

aly replied: "the suit make you look like your put together and clean cut!"

I <3 Leopuradons replied: "I mean i hate to say it, but it probably is...Girls like overdone, over processed looks, i don't care what they say, but it would probably make you hot if you spend 2 hours on your hair, I mean they pay attention to superfical looks, and not much like natural looks...=/, ain't it a b/tich?"

RAWR!! replied: "I think your pretty hot from your myspace pics, i think a suit does make a man look better and when they are dressed nicely"

What is the difference between a suit jacket and a sports coat? I have an interview that's "business casual". I've been advised to go with slacks, button down shirt, no tie, and a sport coat. I went shopping for a sport coat, and they're either fairly crappy or $500+. I'm sure there's something in the middle I just haven't found yet. However, I can't tell the difference between that and the jacket portion of a suit. I have two nice, fairly neutral color suits. Can I just wear the coat with a different pair of pants to imply the casual portion of business casual? Ironically, they make it business casual so the interviewee feels more comfortable. A suit would just be a whole lot easier. Thanks. If, by the way, they are different, please suggest some places to look and a general price range.

Maggie LeMasters replied: "A suit coat usually does not look like a sport jacket even with a different pair of pants because of the tailoring and the material. If it's winter, try a tweed sports jacket and if it's summer a linen one. It could be nubbly with some colors, or just plain woven--maybe a light beige or oyster color. Conversely, you could ask them if they'd mind if you just wore a suit. That you feel more comfortable that way. If it's just for you they shouldn't mind. If it's sort of the office image then you'd better go for the jacket. They are quite versatile and good ones are hard to find. But I would think you should be able to find one for $250 or so. I got my husband a Harris Tweed jacket in Scotland and that is as classic a sports look as you can get. If you know your size you might order over the internet. I'm still looking for a nice linen one for him. Maybe I should get on the internet for that, too. Good luck. I agree that a lot of jackets and suits out there anymore don't look like much."

Alicia replied: "Okay, I personally think they are pretty similar. The only differences--sports jackets have a center vent, or opening in the back of the jacket. Suit jackets can have either one center vent, side vents, or no vents. Blazers usually have side vents. Blazers have gold (or silver, I think) buttons--kinda blingy. Sports jackets and suits have buttons that match the top. Sports jackets often (but not always) come in a bit different colour or style--suit jackets match the bottoms. Sports jackets cannot be double breasted, but blazers and suit jackets can be single or double breasted. Whew. So I think really, for an interview, you're OK with your suit jacket top paired off nicely with a pair of pants in a different colour. I know this sounds pretty cheesy, but did you ever try a thrift store for a sports jacket? For a lot of people, suits are not every day things--you know, you buy them for a nice occasion, wear them once or twice, and then you gain weight and can't wear it ever again so you give it away. I go to the Goodwill, and find lots of very nice, "special occasion" clothing there in practically new condition for pretty cheap. It's not going to be perfectly tailored, but it might come pretty close to what you need. Or you could check a department stores--There is a chain department store called Boscovs in my area, and you can sometimes get amazing deals there for very nice clothing. Good luck on your interview!"

How do you get your bathing suit to shrink back down to it's original size after weaaring it a few times? After you wear your bathing suit a couple times it stretches out. And I don't think that you're supposed to put your bathing suit in the dryer. So how do you get your bathing suit to shrink back down to its original size after you've worn it a few times?

Jay replied: "wash it over and over and over o.O"

babygirl replied: "If you Wash it and dry it it will shrink back that is what works for me"

Kiki replied: "when you wash out your bathing suit but it in the drier for a while, it help alot but it might fade the color after a while"

fluffernut replied: "You are right, don't put it in the dryer!! It really will strech out of shape. Hot tubs, dryers, washing in hot water, even showering in hot water all cause suits to sag. Chances are the suit isn't coming back tight again. With so many different fabrics, it's hard to say which one failed for you. You do need to wash the suits out after each wearing and especially if you were in chlorine, bromine or salt water. Just washing out in cold water may not be enough. Woolite....very small dab....or some of the dedicated swimming suit soaps are best."

Boggy replied: "Try washing it each time you wear it."

Is a brown suit acceptable for a job interview at a marketing company? I only have a black suit and a brown suit. The black suit is a little worn and overall not as nice as the brown suit (in my personal taste). I, however, want to wear the right color for the occasion and don't have time to buy a new suit. Any suggestions?

humdiata replied: "Wear the brown suit. Make sure you wear a RED UNDERSHIRT. When employers see red, they automatically will think you are confident and a hard worker, I PROMISE!!!!"

devotchka replied: "I dont see why not! Though it depends on the firm, really.. not a bad idea to call up in advance & sweet talk the receptionist to ask her opinion on how to dress.. ;) wear a really nice modern fit shirt & tie to go with it, and you're good to go! color suggestions -- white shirt a must. a tie - either pink or with a bit of pink it (brown and pink or dark blue and pink). Brown shoes to go with it & brown socks."

What type of bathing suit would be good for me? I am not very tall at 5'3 . I am a bit over weight but not huge . I like covering my thighs and upper arms which ensemble would suit me well I am tan and have dark black hair and eyes. Which colurs and styles would suit me? PErhaps a sarong and a mesh over shirt?

lightworker27 replied: "a one piece speedo. they cover every part of your torso and leave parts of the back showing. They look good on just about every one. and if you want to cover your legs more, you can get a wrap around. IF you dont want to get black, you can a get a blue. Though I could always get a two piece or a more revealing one, I still love my speedo after navy boot camp"

Allie H. replied: "I think you should be spontaneous and show your body off in a bikini or a tankini i think with your skin color and hair color, you could pull of any color too :]"

giggles replied: "a two peace short and shirt"

How to change white pinstripes on a suit to blue pinstripes? Okay, I have this chocolate brown suit that has white pinstripes; but I want to make the pinstripes ocean blue. What is the best way to do this without ruining the suit? And yes, I tried buying a suit that already came like that, no luck.

licketychick replied: "Sounds like someone wants to look like Dr. Who. If you can get a swatch of the cloth, try dying in in a light blue dye. Maybe the brown will overpower the blue and stay brown."
